Hello!
My name is Max (any pronouns) and I am an artist and community worker living on Treaty 6 territory.
As an artist, I have experience working in multiple disciplines including paint (acrylic, watercolour); drawing media (graphite; charcoal, conte, coloured pencils, oil & soft pastels); printmaking (linocut, woodcut, screenprinting); digital media (video and audio); sculpture (wood, found objects); and textiles. I am able to competently work in any of these mediums and have taught others how to "do" the bulk of them.
The term "community worker" is purposely broad, as I have a lot of different community-based experiences! I have almost a decade's worth of experience as a public educator primarily on social justice topics such as disability justice and 2SLGBTQ+ liberation. I have a similar amount of experience in group facilitation more broadly. Some other assorted skills I've picked up are: event planning; project management; and disability accessibility coordination.

Accessibility needs consulting
The Mitchell Art Gallery wants to learn about the access needs of the communities we serve. We would like to collaborate with a student to consult with community, work on an accessibility plan, and help us determine from community feedback what's feasible and actionable for the gallery. Students should be prepared to: Research and apply information on access and disability justice in arts and culture. Draft and distribute a survey on access needs. Review findings and collaborate on creating an action plan.
Level UP Studio Arts Studio Maintenance Assistant
The MacEwan Studio Arts has an opportunity for a current student to assist with cleaning, painting, and maintenance of department studios and equipment.
Curatorial Research - 2SLGBTQ+ Contemporary Art
As part of my research dissemination, I have an ongoing independent curatorial practice (which primarily takes the form of physical exhibitions, with occasional performance art series and screenings of video art.) Currently, I am assessing the feasibility of a number of different curatorial projects related to the 2SLGBTQ+ identities and histories, as well as (queer) artistic interventions into normative spaces, practices, discourses and aesthetics (including fitness culture, Canadian art histories, and commercial design).
