I’m a video game scholar, professor of media and culture, and administrator at Trinity Western University in the School of the Arts, Media + Culture.
I teach a variety of Communication Studies and Media Studies courses that look at the relationship between culture and media. I created a BA program in video game development for Christian students looking to make an impact in the games industry. I have a passion for preparing thoughtful students for work in a variety of professional industries.
My goal is to be the best educator I can by blending faithful, informed, critical research with hands-on practice and effective teaching techniques.

Trinity Western University’s Media + Communication (MCOM) program offers an experiential learning opportunity for a group of first through fourth year students enrolled in the "Communication Colloquium: Professional Preparation" course. These students are keen to build a broad foundational knowledge of human communication and culture, hone critical and creative thinking skills, and apply their learning through real-world projects. This course emphasizes professional preparation, equipping students with a broad overview of the professional world, interdisciplinary perspectives and a thoughtful engagement of a variety of contemporary issues. Video Game Design & Creation
GAME 380
Upper level students from Trinity Western University's Game Development program are looking to apply the skills they have learned on multiple year-long team game-making projects. Some students are primarily game designers, some are sound and music focused, some are strong narrative writers, and some have basic skills in programming. All have worked with the Unity game engine, Jira project management, and know how to work well as a small team to produce fully functional video games from start to finish.
