project planning business services critical thinking communication researchFourth-year nursing students at the University of British Columbia's Okanagan campus are available to be your virtual interns, in a project- or virtual service-based experience. Students will engage in a project or service of your choosing over the internship period, connecting with you as needed with virtual communication tools.
Students are available for a minimum of 72 practice hours from May 11 to July 28, 2020.
Due to COVID-19 restrictions, student placements will only occur virtually.
This course is an opportunity for students to explore interprofessional practice and nursing leadership. Through practice, participants will develop competencies in the areas of leadership, influencing and managing change, in the context of emerging Canadian and global health issues and trends. This may occur in settings or organizations that do not have health/health care as their primary mandate.
Deliverables will vary depending on the scope of the project. The student should complete at least 72 hours with your organization by July 28, 2020.

Project Examples
Students can complete a substantial project for your organization over the placement period.
Working in a team of 3-4 students, students will develop an action plan for addressing your organization's health-related issue, which will include: goals, objectives, actions to be taken, timeframe, required human and non-human resources, and evaluation strategies.
Project goals and objectives need to be achievable within the semester. The project action plan will be presented in a practicum charter. Students must be actively involved in influencing change throughout the practicum and must appropriately arrange for closure of the project at the end of the semester.
Companies must answer the following questions to submit a match request to this experience:
Connecting with the practice teacher to initiate the placement and confirm the scope is an appropriate fit for the course.
Providing a dedicated contact who will act as the student's primary supervisor and project mentor over the duration of the virtual placement. A secondary contact should be provided as a backup. Students will interact virtually with their primary contact as needed.
Placements are for credit and therefore unpaid.
