Motives Media Network is the leading social media brand for university students present at over 25 universities across Canada, empowering 100,000+ incoming students in 2024 alone to connect, ask questions, and prepare themselves for their university journey before stepping foot on campus.
During our initial phase in 2023, we reached 6,000 incoming first-year students, and in 2024, our following exploded with a 12,000% increase to over 100,000 students, resulting in millions of impressions monthly. At some of the 25 universities we serve, our following captures upwards of 85% of first-year students. We are planning an expansion into almost every province and some states this upcoming year.

Motives Media Network aims to create an all-in-one website for university students, providing a centralized platform for essential resources. The project will develop a user-friendly, visually appealing site that consolidates academic, social, financial, and wellness information. Key features will include event calendars, a shopping and move-in essentials guide, Motives’ hosted events, student discounts, and tips for university life. This role offers a unique opportunity to exercise creativity and contribute your own ideas, shaping key features of the website while honing your entrepreneurial and problem-solving skills. A cohesive team effort is essential to ensure seamless integration of all elements to meet the needs of the target audience. The website will be built using Wix or another platform chosen by the team. Key Objectives: Develop a responsive, intuitive website layout. Integrate sections such as event calendars, shopping guides, hosted events, student discounts, and general tips (there will be room for creative input here for additional sections) Ensure the website is easy to navigate and visually appealing. Implement basic SEO practices to enhance visibility.
Social Media Content Creator and Manager Intern
Motives Media Network is the leading social media brand for university students present at over 25 universities across Canada, empowering 120,000+ incoming students in 2024 alone to connect, ask questions, and prepare themselves for their university journey before stepping foot on campus. We are seeking enthusiastic students to collaborate with us and join our team as Social Media Executive Managers. In this role, you'll be responsible for: Familiarizing yourself with our brand, audience, and services to effectively represent us. Develop engaging content that enhances brand visibility and audience engagement, gaining hands-on experience in key aspects of digital marketing, brand positioning, and online vitality. This content will include but is not limited to developing buzz for our university events we host and also to attract incoming first years to our instagram pages and resources. You will use marketing strategies to effectively target the desired demographics. Leverage platform algorithms on TikTok and Instagram to strategically leverage them for maximum reach and virality. Employ and identify market expansion techniques. Identifying new social media strategies and emerging platforms and strategies to boost engagement. Research alternative methods to segment and gain exposure to our target market. Employ and identify market expansion techniques. Conduct competitive analysis and monitor industry trends to identify opportunities for growth and differentiation. Take part in and employ advanced segmentation and audience targeting strategies. Planning and executing social media campaigns tailored to each platform, tracking performance metrics throughout. Creating and maintaining a content calendar to ensure consistent and engaging posts. This role offers the opportunity to build real-world social media marketing skills while contributing to a fast-growing brand with a meaningful mission. All this while being provided guidance when needed from our team that has years of expertise in these fields.
University Course and Professor Rating Website
The goal of this project is to create a user-friendly website that allows university students to rate and review courses and professors based on difficulty and other factors. This platform will serve as a valuable resource for students when selecting courses, providing insights into the academic experience at their institution. The project will have two main parts. The first is focused on creating the general framework for the website. The second is implementing features/methods to import all course data for a given university. Specifically, this will be done for 5 different major Canadian universities: Queen's University, University of Guelph, McMaster University, University of Ottawa, and University of Toronto. The website should include features such as a search function, rating system, and comment section for detailed feedback. The project aims to apply web development skills learned in the classroom, including front-end and back-end development, user interface design, and database management. The website should be intuitive and accessible, ensuring a seamless experience for users.
