Motives Media Network is the leading social media brand for university students present at over 25 universities across Canada, empowering 120,000+ incoming students in 2024 alone to connect, ask questions, and prepare themselves for their university journey before stepping foot on campus.


We are seeking enthusiastic students to collaborate with us and join our team as Social Media Executive Managers. In this role, you'll be responsible for:


  • Familiarizing yourself with our brand, audience, and services to effectively represent us.
  • Develop engaging content that enhances brand visibility and audience engagement, gaining hands-on experience in key aspects of digital marketing, brand positioning, and online vitality.
  • This content will include but is not limited to developing buzz for our university events we host and also to attract incoming first years to our instagram pages and resources. You will use marketing strategies to effectively target the desired demographics.
  • Leverage platform algorithms on TikTok and Instagram to strategically leverage them for maximum reach and virality.
  • Employ and identify market expansion techniques.
  • Identifying new social media strategies and emerging platforms and strategies to boost engagement.
  • Research alternative methods to segment and gain exposure to our target market.
  • Employ and identify market expansion techniques.
  • Conduct competitive analysis and monitor industry trends to identify opportunities for growth and differentiation.
  • Take part in and employ advanced segmentation and audience targeting strategies.
  • Planning and executing social media campaigns tailored to each platform, tracking performance metrics throughout.
  • Creating and maintaining a content calendar to ensure consistent and engaging posts.


This role offers the opportunity to build real-world social media marketing skills while contributing to a fast-growing brand with a meaningful mission. All this while being provided guidance when needed from our team that has years of expertise in these fields.

Deliverables

By the end of the project, students should be able to demonstrate the following:


  • Demonstrate a strong understanding of our target market, products, and services.
  • Successfully create and deploy marketing and exposure-based content across relevant social media channels with a focus on video content.
  • Leverage platform algorithms on TikTok and Instagram to strategically leverage them for maximum reach and virality.
  • Consistently update and maintain our social media channels throughout their internship.
  • Identify and recommend effective social media channels and strategies.
  • Develop and outline suitable types of content for campaigns.
  • Identify key performance metrics to track campaign effectiveness.
  • Create a detailed social media content calendar to organize and plan campaign efforts.
  • Identify effective segmentation targeting strategies for our companies target audience along with market expansion techniques.


Bonus Objectives:

  • Recommend appropriate social media management tools to enhance efficiency.

Final Deliverables:

  • A short final report along with a 10-minute personation summarizing key finding, results and strategies outlined.
  • Demonstration of key performance indicators (KPIs) such as follower growth, number of posts, engagement rates, etc.

During our initial phase in 2023, we reached 6,000 incoming first-year students, and in 2024, our following exploded with a 12,000% increase to over 100,000 students, resulting in millions of impressions monthly. At some of the 25 universities we serve, our following captures upwards of 85% of first-year students. We are planning an expansion into almost every province and some states this upcoming year.
