Ergonomic Analysis of Treeplanting Workers
Treeplanting is a physically demanding job that requires workers to maintain high levels of productivity while minimizing the risk of injury. Brinkman & Associates Reforestation Ltd seeks to improve the ergonomic conditions for tree planters in Canada and the USA. The goal of this project is to gather and analyze existing studies on the ergonomics of treeplanting to identify best practices and potential areas for improvement. This research will help the company develop guidelines to enhance worker safety and efficiency. The project will involve a comprehensive literature review, focusing on ergonomic factors such as posture, repetitive motion, and equipment design.

Risks of Exposure to Planters from Pesticides on Tree Seedlings
Context Brinkman Group was incorporated in 1979. We have planted 1.5 billion trees, and have over 1000 planters working each year. However, pesticides pose a variety of risks to our planters. The purpose of this project is to write a new report about pesticides on seedlings, to update the 1982 book Caution Before Yield (attached under resources) with the current industry specs. Updating with new science is necessary to provide current planters with an accurate picture, as Caution Before Yield is based off science from four decades ago. The completed version will be available to distribute to planters and industry stakeholders to better inform them of the risks they face. Ideal candidate We are looking for a graduate student with enough medical background and interest to inform our advisories to our planters of the long-term, low-risk factors they face in their work from pesticides, specifically their carcinogenic, teratogenic and mutagenic risks. Project Review of existing advisory literature, the research of which was done a few decades ago. Update references and advisory literature. Modify communications into digital, social media formats for use by current planters.
