reforestation riparian ecologyParticipants will have an opportunity to learn about riparian restoration goals and objectives. Learners will also be able to actively participate in the project by assisting with the following tasks:
- To evaluate the success of riparian restoration projects established under the Crawford County Streambank Reforestation Program in northwest Pennsylvania.
- To conduct maintenance activities on planting projects in northwest Pennsylvania.
Projects will involve one or more of the following:
- Evaluation of trees and shrubs (living or dead)
- Evaluation of streambanks or shoreline within the project reach.
- Repair or replacement of tree shelters and stakes.
- Removal of tree shelters that are no longer needed.
- Weeding around trees and shrubs as needed.
All tools and oversight will be provided for this project. Learners will be expected to participate in light manual work with basic hand tools including but not limited to shovels, rakes, pruners, etc.
