The main goal for the project is to analyze the IT purchasing process for over 200 municipalities in Ontario, Canada. The objective is to come up with a framework that shows the process, requirements, challenges, and winning criteria for IT vendors. The project also aims to test the effectiveness of the findings by implementing them in 3 selected municipalities.


This will involve several different steps for the students, including:


- Researching and gathering information on the IT purchasing process for each municipality.


- Identifying the approval levels for vendors and submitted offers.


- Mapping out the stakeholders involved in the purchasing process.


- Analyzing the requirements, challenges, and winning criteria for IT vendors.


- Testing the effectiveness of the findings in 3 selected municipalities.


Deliverables

By the end of the project, students should complete the following list of activities:


- A comprehensive framework that outlines the IT purchasing process, requirements, challenges, and winning criteria.


- Detailed documentation of the approval levels for vendors and submitted offers.


- Identification of key stakeholders involved in the IT purchasing process.


- Analysis of the effectiveness of the findings in 3 selected municipalities.



Final deliverables:


- A final report presenting the framework and findings.


- Recommendations for improving the IT purchasing process based on the analysis.


- Contact details for the municipalities and the information gathered during the research.
