project planning process analysis business strategy data analysis researchDuring their final semester project management graduate student teams are assigned a cumulative total of 600 hours to work on a project to either develop a Project Management Plan or conduct research etc., for a project of your choice. Using Project Management Theory guided by PMI standards, students will determine the breakdown of work of a future project for your organization, including project requirements, risks, costs, timelines, and responsibilities to drive the implementation process.
Students
Each student project manager will dedicate a minimum of 100 hours to your project, specifically the student will:
Develop a project charter
Develop and deliver a complete project plan or requested research in the sponsors specified format
Prepare weekly status reports
Use project management tools for collaboration
Close the project

Project Examples
Requirements
In addition to this semester, this course runs at two other points in the year, each of which we are also seeking project matches for:
- Project Management - Wiinter 2023
- Project Management - Spring/Summer 2023
Project examples could include, but are not limited to:
- An event or workshop
- New business plan and government funding opportunities
- Competitor analysis
- Operational research and efficiency
- Develop or enhancement of a website
- Implementation or evaluation of a software or system
- Business process change
- A marketing and branding initiative
- New product/service, business launch
Students' capabilities, in the example of an event or workshop project, students will:
· Develop a project charter, identify and research venues, etc., within the scope and requirements requested by the sponsor; a complete project plan including a schedule, risk assessment, and budget, and other required documents
· Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure the project plan is being developed in accordance with the project requirements and the company's strategic initiatives
Students will not:
· Execute the event except in circumstances where the project aligns with an area the students have interest and experience in.
Outcomes
Phase 1 - Project Plan: Students will meet with organization representative(s) to understand the project scope and prepare a detailed plan to complete the project.
Phase 2 - Project Execution: Students will work on deliverables outlined in the project plan. Teams will periodically communicate with organization representative(s) as needed to complete project tasks.
Phase 3 - Report and Presentation: Students will submit a project plan in person or virtually in the format requested by the sponsor. Teams will also formally present their project in class.

TouchPoint 1 Meeting - Meeting between students and organization to verify project scope, communication styles, and important dates.
TouchPoint 2 Meeting - Status update meeting between students and organization.
Final Delivery - Final delivery of project
Communication with teams including meetings are subject to change and may vary depending on the project
Additional company criteria
Companies must answer the following questions to submit a match request to this experience:
Provide a dedicated contact who is available to answer periodic emails or phone calls over the duration of the project to address students' questions.
Be available for a quick phone call with the instructor to initiate your relationship and confirm your scope is an appropriate fit for the course.
