All NAME students will deliver a 10 minute presentation on their individual or group projects -- background, project planning and chosen method (that is, which tools, data gathering, etc) used. This is an academic requirement - not for involving your company.

UBC NAME/Internship representative(s) will check in with both the student and company supervisor for 'formal' mid-internship meeting to learn how the intern is progressing, scope of work and so forth. This meeting will take place virtually and will be scheduled at a mutually convenient date/time.

An opportunity to bring in a Master's NAME student this summer to meet short term needs of your organization and contribute to development of a future engineer for Canada's marine industry. The full- or part-time, engineering intern will complete a specific project conducted virtually (i.e. off-site) for anywhere from 6-16 weeks. Internships can commence anytime from May through July; ending by Labour Day. Minimum 180 hours.
Students can work on one or more projects during the internship. This virtual internship could also be an opportunity for your junior technical staff to develop their supervisory skills.
Recruit from our Master of Engineering Leadership program (all students have 4 to 10+ years industry experience ranging from shipyards, mariners, project managers) or the Master of Engineering program (all have undergraduate engineering degrees plus 2 to 8+ years industry experience).
Students
Deliverables are determined and outlined by the client - you. This could include design drawings packages, background research findings, data analysis summary, financial summary, beta units of systems, etc. Students will need to complete a technical report to meet the NAME 592 Internship course requirement, submitted to the Director, Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering no later than September 4.

- Prepare design schematics and detail drawings for vessel requirements
- Design document preparation for new products and components including drawings and engineering specifications
- Propulsion and hydrodynamic analyses; stability tests and calculations; structural drafting and design
- Data Analysis: Validate data sources, transformations, and analysis against reference data to ensure quality, accuracy, and completeness of derived reports.
