No skills listedImmigrants may find it challenging to tell whether they have experienced discrimination based on their race or ethno-culture. Based on past working experience, and conversation with several staff from community agencies serving immigrants, Lun and McKenzie propose to work on a project in this area. This project aims to search and document existing materials (e.g., manual, brochure, video) regarding how to identify and respond to racism experienced by immigrants in Canada. At the end of this project, we will have a list of available resources, which will be shared with community agencies in Edmonton. Besides, we will also identify the gaps in supporting immigrants to deal with situations and conversations when they experience racism.
The student assistant will work on following tasks:
A- Conduct a search for available resources related to support immigrants to deal with racism.
B- Document, categorize, and summarize the identified resources.
C- Examine the resources and identify potential gaps in this area.
D- Attend meetings with community agency staff to share the findings.
A- I will provide mentorship to the student assistant in gaining more knowledge in immigration settlement and discrimination experienced by immigrants.
B- I will provide guidance for the student assistant on how to conduct academic writing.
C- I will support the student assistant to develop community partnership and collaboration.
