What is the main goal for the project?

We require a student to bring our online accounting records up to date. This project will give students excellent experience at financial accounting for a small business.

This is an 80-hour placement.

What tasks will students need to complete to achieve the project goal?

• Some Transaction Data Entry or update
• Set up of Recurring Transactions within Quickbooks to save future data entry
• Bank and Credit Card Processing Account Reconciliation
• Assist in preparing HST/GST and Provincial Tax Return Data
• Adjustments to bring books to trial balance for accountant

How will you support students in completing the project?

We will provide access to all documentation of all transactions and access to our online accounting platform

What skills or technologies will help students to complete the project?

We use Quickbooks Online. Student should have good understanding of accounting processes and be able to efficiently and correctly complete reconciliations.

1. Onboarding - Meet management online; Get access to Quickbooks Online and accounting records. Review current state.
2. Prioritize – Jointly agree a list of task priorities and reconciliations to bring accounting records up-to-date.
3. Update accounting records (if required) and reconcile accounts - including updating automated rules to automate future posting where applicable.
4. Jointly Review Balance Sheets and P&L– Review Financial Statements together with management to confirm project is complete.
5. Bonus - If time permits, additional work can be completed on management accounting practices.
