This includes aquaponics, hydroponics, permaculture, food forestry, regenerative and other ecologically sustainable farming practices. The project will also locate 13 suitable ecological zones in each Canadian province and territory where the various types of agricultural practices can thrive. The project will explain the rational for each location and the timeframe required to make them viable food supplies for a 250 kilometer radius around the agricultural zone.
By the end of the project, learners should demonstrate:
- Understanding of the various historical, present and potential future developments of agricultural practices in Canada. Including food crops, textile crops, herb crops, etc.
- Ability to locate 13 suitable ecological zones in each Canadian province and territory where the various types of agricultural practices can thrive.
- Explanation of the rational for each location and the timeframe required to make them viable food supplies for a 250 kilometer radius around the agricultural zone.
Final deliverables should include:
- A written report on the various historical, present and potential future developments of agricultural practices in Canada.
- A map of the 13 suitable ecological zones in each Canadian province and territory.
