No skills listedBased on an understanding of application functionality and on user experience design and testing, design and create a new user onboarding experience for TaskTrain, consisting of:
- In-application onboarding sequences including text and brief video clips to introduce them to essential application functionality.
- A "drip" email campaign for new registrants to help them understand the value and use of the application.
The objective of this onboarding experience is to ensure new users understand both the value and use of TaskTrain, a simple process management SaaS application designed for small and medium-sized businesses, as well as the best practices behind its design, increasing the likelihood that the registrants activate as product users and eventually become paying customers.
Activities:
Initial:
- Investigating and understanding best practices for SaaS onboarding.
- Reading the TaskTrain website and Help Center to understand the value of the product and its features.
- Using TaskTrain to understand the onboarding steps and challenges.
In-application Sequence:
- Identifying topics for 2-3 onboarding sequences a sequence for users with different application roles with the objectives of explaining the value TaskTrain brings to organizations and learning how to use its features.
- Writing copy, selecting images, and capturing screen actions, and narrating video for the onboarding sequence.
- Creating a system for tracking the onboarding sequences and their effectiveness.
- Testing the onboarding and making adjustments based on the results.
Email Campaign:
- Identifying topics for a sequence of email messages to be sent out to new registrants over the first 2-6 weeks of registration with the objectives of explaining the value TaskTrain brings to organizations and learning how to use its features.
- Writing copy and selecting images for the email messages.
- Creating a system for tracking the emails and their effectiveness.
- Testing the emails and making adjustments based on the results.
Deliverables:
- Two to three onboarding sequences with text, images, and narrated screen captures.
- Email sequence message text and image layout.
- A brief written report explaining the design process and outcomes.
- Orientation: Provide overview of TaskTrain company mission, founder story, product value proposition, product demo, existing support resources, existing brand and marketing collateral, competitor/adjacent landscape.
- Planning: Review project objectives and deliverables and collaboratively generate task list and timeframe.
- Regular Coaching: Schedule and hold regular check-ins to provide detailed feedback and coaching on work-in-progress.
- Conclusion: Provide closing project feedback based on process and deliverables. Provide oral or written references.
