Details

Nutritionops is a network of consultants who want to grow into a larger more formal consultancy business. Established and incorporated in Toronto in 2020, the company seeks to work on international development nutrition projects which need a food industry business lens. Previous projects completed in 2020-2021 include reviewing literature on Knowledge, Attitudes and Practices of wet market food vendors in Low Middle-Income Countries towards food safety (GAIN), Keeping Food Markets working during Coronavirus (GAIN) a review of nutrient dense foods available in markets in Niger (Helen Keller International) and a market and innovation review of available vitamin A products for UNICEF. The value proposition of this consultancy is the ability to help NGOs get food industry insights as they often cannot interact with food companies directly due to various internal policies around conflict of interest. The chief consultant is based in Toronto. Other consultants are based Africa

Deliverables

1) Competitive analysis: A previous student has done an initial market review and started a database of potential competitor companies. This now needs to be analyzed, and we would like a competitive analysis done on the collected data. We would like the student to also do some organizational research and outline the organizational structure of these companies, annual revenue and history.

2) Business expansion: Propose a strategy for growth for Nutritionops to make it more of an international organization and propose funding requirements and a new organizational structure. Ideally 2 or 3 strategic approaches would be desired with proposed timelines if time permits.

3) A final summary presentation of research and proposed options for expansion.
