Details

Every semester we here at Rotman Commerce, University of Toronto, run a program called Consult for Impact for our students. Consult for Impact is an experiential learning opportunity that encourages the application of theoretical knowledge to real-world scenarios. Our program strives to provide pro-bono consulting services that allow students to experience the operations of providing consulting services for a client organized in a structured learning environment. We are looking to partner with non-profit organizations, University affiliated organizations, social startups and/or small businesses in Canada who are unable to afford external consulting services. More specifically we are looking for organizations who can help us as following:

  • Provide a problem statement or business question that your organization is currently facing that our students can offer you consultation on
  • Provide documents and other relevant information to guide the students E.g., Financial statements/ organizational structure/ strategic planning documents/ market research/ etc.
  • Provide a dedicated point of contact who is available by email to answer consulting team questions
  • Be available for two 30-minute phone calls with the consulting team
  • Provide feedback to the team about their presentation

Deliverables

The Student Consultants have excellent academic achievements and are dedicated to creating social impact and change. The Student Consultants are knowledgeable about innovation strategies, concepts, and ideas used to develop and deploy effective solutions to social challenges and are sensitive and empathetic to the experiences of vulnerable and disadvantaged populations. The Student Consultants will receive training before they engage with any organization. Periodic meetings will be held to guide the Student Consultant teams and they will receive opportunities to assess progress and engage with professional development relevant to the project. It is important to clarify that our student consultant team does not implement the solutions but instead they provide recommendations about different approaches to solve specific business problem
