teaching lesson planning community-based participatory researchThe main objective of this project is to enhance student learning through a program called Sankofa Bridge Program at Downsview Secondary School. The project aims to address the needs of students by providing additional support and reinforcement of class materials, ultimately contributing to increased academic success. The students involved in this project are expected to achieve a deeper understanding of the class material and show improvement in their academic performance.
THIS IS AN IN PERSON OPPORTUNITY AT DOWNSVIEW SECONDARY SCHOOL IN TORONTO, ONTARIO.
Requirements for Participants:
- Must be able to commute to Downsview Secondary School.
- Must complete a vulnerable sector check to ensure the safety of the students involved.
- Aspiration to become a high school teacher or professor.
The project activities consists of:
- Check-in with teaching interns and provide to provide coaching and wellness services.
- Track and provide recommendations on program modifications
- Using weekly check-in with Teaching Interns, research program modification and resources to support teaching interns and student learn.
- Support with design exercises that align with the curriculum to provide practical application of theoretical knowledge.
- Compile weekly reports summarizing the progress of the Sankofa program
- Schedule regular check-ins with the program coordinator to discuss the overall progress of the program.
Providing specialized, in-depth knowledge and general industry insights for a comprehensive understanding.
Sharing knowledge in specific technical skills, techniques, methodologies required for the project.
Providing access to necessary tools, software, and resources required for project completion.
Scheduled check-ins to discuss progress, address challenges, and provide feedback.
About the company
The Racialized Students is a registered non-profit organization. We launched in 2020 during the onset of the pandemic. We were founded to be a resource for Black and racialized students to partake in meaningful research training and networking opportunities that help them advance throughout their academic journey and career journey.
We achieve this through the provision of mentorship, research, and employment training opportunities.
Our mission is to increase the representation of Black people across interdisciplinary Health sectors and increase the rate of employment among Black youth through career advancement training.
We envision a safer and inclusive Toronto where all Torontonians particularly Black and racialized communities can access services and employment free from racism and discrimination.
