We are looking for a student interested in mobile app development and working with Machine Learning, REST APIs and Computer Networking Principals. The project aims to improve app features for the companion app to which our smart glasses will connect to. Possible features include Reducing the Latency of our video calls, adding a voice assistant, or improving the accuracy of our cloud AI models.

Seleste is changing the assistive technology industry by developing the highest quality smart glasses product with better AI and video-calling while remaining financially accessible!

Current features we plan to improve/build include video call optimization, voice assistant and A.I optimization. A student would work and ideally finish and push to production on one app feature and deliver the following work product:

1. Use technologies (React Native, Node.js, C and Azure Cognitive Services) to receive, analyze then send data to our glasses to add value to our existing app features.
2. Create react Components and integrate with third-party APIs.
3. Decode Bluetooth packets on our ios app received from the glasses to develop new features (refer to the list above)
4. Document research done and design decisions made to ensure smooth knowledge transfer
5. Write high-quality code that will go through code reviews from experienced developers

By the end of this product you should have concise written documentation of the feature you worked on and you should have merged that feature into production where it will start interacting with users.

Features could include:

• Optimization and reducing the time it takes to transfer an image from the glasses to the phone
• Reducing the time it takes to compress a photo on the glasses from 2MB to 200kb
• New functionality leveraging the buttons on the glasses to do things like automatic wifi connection
• Changing UX decisions and audio messages on the glasses for better usability
• Get a Bluetooth audio stream from the microphone on the glasses to the phone to allow users to directly use the glasses mic.

Onboarding calls with the students to explain the scope of the project and set milestones. There will be weekly check-ins to make sure that the students do not have any questions or concerns. Additional support will be provided on an ad-hoc basis as I am happy to meet if need be. The student will also be able to talk to the other interns for help or advice. The student can also connect to our five technical advisors all of whom have 10+ years of development or computer science research experience! There will also be regular updates that will be provided by the students in terms of their progress.
