Details

This Level Up Project is for interns who wish to learn and develop their communications skills across cultures.

This is one step in a multiple step learning experience in Indigenous Communications.

Project Details: In this project level students will take what they have learned from the first three level up projects and begin to practice teachings through independent work periods and attending respective team meetings.

Students will work to develop and edit speaker biographies, introductions, quote sheets, and Knowledge Nugget descriptions. Once a first draft is complete students will meet with a Communication specialist to review their work and learn further communications tips and techniques. The goal of this project is to equip students with the necessary skills to completely work with IISB, an Indigenous organization, to develop communications assets.

Students who complete this level of communication training, will then be eligible to go on to the next level of communications projects.

Mentorship

The International Indigenous Speakers Bureau (IISB) will provide an opportunity to connect and engage with material from various Indigenous speakers, leaders, and Knowledge carriers from around the world; in areas such as history, Two-Spirit, environmentalism, health care, Indigenous Data Sovereignty, etc... For Indigenous students, this engagement will give the intern an opportunity to expand upon their own knowledge of other Indigenous communities' perspectives and worldviews, as well as a chance to possibly dive deeper into their own cultural connections.

Students will dive deeper into techniques of video editing and production more aligned with an Indigenous learning experience. This includes learning about pacing, appropriate media selection, honouring source material, Indigenous Data sovereignty, etc.

At IISB, we provide a safe and supportive environment where interns can learn, discuss, and unpack their questions and feelings as they go through the Indigenous Awareness Education.
