Project Examples

Requirements

Starting this September, a class of UBC students, who have volunteered for this special project and are motivated to deliver an impact for your organization, will spend approximately 300 collective hours bringing a creative writing and storytelling approach to a new media area of your choosing.

Based on your objectives, students will apply writing skills for various formats including virtual reality, augmented reality, blog posts, podcasts, or other digital content, to further your organization's communication strategy.

Project areas may include, but are not limited to:

  1. Virtual or Augmented Reality: Students will create a script for a VR or AR experience. How can you ensure the audience looks where you want them to look? How do you create a compelling narrative that is enhanced by the technology? Students will provide a script with consideration to these questions and your organization's goals.

  1. Transmedia Storytelling: Students will create digital media content that leverages the form, including gifs, video, links, etc. The focus could be a story about broad trends in your industry, a particular featured customer, your organization's mission/mandate, or any topic that lends itself to a narrative structure.

  1. Blog entries: Students will create a series of short blog posts that could be shared on your organization's internal blog. These can be customer stories, industry trends, new technology developments, etc.
