effective communication leadership critical thinking collaborationBring on one or more students from the University of Arizona in the Public and Applied Humanities Program to be your virtual interns, in a project-based experience. Applied Humanities students contribute to partner agencies in meaningful and substantive ways, while gaining skill in collaboration, converting understanding into action, and exploring and enhancing life in the community and beyond.
Students will work on one or more projects of your choosing over the internship period. Students are available for 120 hours of placement during the summer months, fall or spring semester.
Students
Deliverables will vary depending on the scope of the project. The student should complete 120 hours with your organization by the beginning of May, August or December (dependent on the semester of enrollment).
Project Examples
Requirements
Students can complete a substantial project for your organization over the placement period. We suggest providing a starting project, but as the placement goes on there may be other duties or projects the student is asked to complete as well. Providing a central project creates structure for the internship, and gives the student (and company) a tangible goal.
Internship opportunities abound for students in the Applied Humanities. We've had students intern with:
- A southern Arizona social media strategy consulting group,
- A Phoenix small business,
- Nonprofits based out of Tucson, Phoenix, and Washington DC,
- A California real estate agency, an international beauty supplier,
- An Atlanta modeling and artist representation agency,
- A fashion and beauty TikTok influencer,
- A Tucson physical therapy provider,
- A COVID contact tracing team,
- A rural community food bank,
- A Tucson architecture firm,
- A Sacramento design and construction company,
- The UA Design Lab,
- Branches of national companies including Honda and Penske.
