York University's Bridging Program for Internationally Educated Professionals (IEP) – Finance Stream – offers a meaningful way for employers to engage with globally experienced professionals while supporting their transition into the Canadian finance industry.


Participants in this stream bring at least three years of international experience in finance, banking, or investment-related fields. Through the program, they gain specialized training in Canadian business culture, regulatory frameworks, and financial management practices.


By collaborating with our learners, your organization will benefit from:

  • Experience in global finance, now enhanced with Canadian coursework in investment management, financial planning, and corporate finance.
  • Analytical thinkers with exposure to international markets and a deepening understanding of local financial systems.
  • Proficiency in tools such as Excel and industry-standard financial models.
  • Learners preparing for professional designations like CFA or CFP (FP Canada).
  • Strong interpersonal, research, and problem-solving skills.

Expected outcomes and deliverables

Learners will participate in applied finance projects that connect classroom theory with practical workplace challenges. The experience gives them the opportunity to analyze real-world financial problems and provide meaningful insights.

We're open to co-developing deliverables to suit your organization’s needs while aligning with course goals.


Outcomes:

  • Learners will apply financial theories and tools to analyze, assess, or solve business and investment problems.
  • They will gain experience with Canadian business practices and exposure to your organization’s financial landscape.


Deliverables (examples):

  • Investment or portfolio recommendations
  • Financial performance reports
  • Cash flow forecasting models
  • Risk assessments or scenario analyses
  • Budget plans or pricing models
  • Excel-based valuation templates
  • Strategic financial management proposals
  • ESG (Environmental, Social, Governance) financial analysis


All deliverables will be finalized in consultation with your team at the beginning of the project.

Finance-Focused Projects:

  • Evaluate investment strategies for a startup, nonprofit, or family-owned business.
  • Analyze a company’s financial statements and identify key risks or opportunities.
  • Develop forecasting models for budgeting, cash flow, or revenue planning.
  • Conduct portfolio analysis and recommend asset allocation strategies.
  • Research ESG factors in investment decisions and create advisory briefs.
  • Support the development of financial literacy or planning resources for clients or staff.


These projects allow our learners to build their Canadian finance portfolio while offering tangible outcomes to your organization.
