Pay it forward by helping a new generation learn new skills,, build their portfolio, and develop a taste of what they like or don’t like to do. Offset enough of employees’ time with the work an intern does to be a fair and sustainable exchange.

Bring on students from the Toronto School of Management' Business Administration/Management program to be your virtual interns, in a project-based experience. Students are prepared for careers in accounting, finance, marketing, human resource management, information systems, production / operations management, public sector administration, and international management.

Students are required to complete 480 hours of placement within 24 weeks of starting.

These students are looking for both paid and unpaid internships with a preference for paid experiences. Please indicate in your project submission which you are able to offer.

Due to COVID-19 considerations, student placements may occur virtually only.

Expected outcomes and deliverables

Deliverables will vary depending on the scope of the internship. However, these deliverables must be discussed and agreed upon prior to the start of the internship.

Project Examples

Students can complete a substantial project for your organization over the placement period. We suggest providing a starting project, but as the placement goes on there may be other duties or projects the student is asked to complete as well. Providing a central project creates structure for the internship, and gives the student (and company) a tangible goal.

Project examples that students can complete may include, but are not limited to:

  • Identifying and understanding the techniques and theories of successful businesses, including how to manage finance, fundamental principles of marketing and how to create effective strategies
  • Understanding the relationships between businesses and different local, national and global environments
  • Using cognitive and problem-solving skills to improve communication skills and operate effectively individually and as part of a team

Companies must answer the following questions to submit a match request to this experience:

Be available for a quick phone/virtual call with the instructor to initiate your relationship and confirm your scope in an appropriate fit for the internship

Provide a dedicated contact who will act as the student's primary supervisor over the duration of the virtual placement. A secondary contact should be provided as a backup.

Provide ongoing support and mentorship to students throughout the internship. Students will interact virtually with their primary contact no less than once a week.
